Coached EMS training

Twenty minutes, start to finish

If it has been a while since you trained, this is what you are walking into: a normal week first, then what is different about the first time you come.

Week to week

A normal session

You arrive at your slot and change. Your trainer fits the vest and the straps, and then you train for twenty minutes.

The movements are slow and ordinary and mostly your own body weight - a squat, a press, a hold. The impulses support the muscle tension you are making yourself. They run in blocks while you move, and your trainer sets the level at the start of each block and adjusts it as you go.

What surprises most people is how quickly an easy movement stops being easy. A squat you would not think twice about gets hard around the fourth one. The sensation itself is a firm tightening that arrives and releases in a rhythm, and by the second block it is simply the training.

You can stop at any moment, mid-session included. Then you change and leave. The whole appointment fits inside a lunch break.

Level

The level is set with you. Your trainer starts low, moves up with you, and stays at what you can hold for the block.

The first time

Your first visit is longer

Plan more time than twenty minutes. Three things happen before you train, and the training itself is lighter than it will be later.

  1. 01

The health form, and a conversation about it

You fill it in and go through it with the person who will train you - what you have going on, what you have had, what you take. If this training is not right for you, or a doctor should look at something first, you hear that here rather than later.

The vest is fitted to you

The vest and straps belong to the studio and they are fitted rather than handed over. They sit close, and your trainer checks the fit before every session rather than only the first. Come in ordinary clothes; you train in a light base layer, and your studio tells you when you book whether it provides one.

  3. 03

A lighter session than you could manage

On purpose, and lower than you could push to. This training is dosed by the week, and starting gently is what makes the tenth session unremarkable. You may ache for a day or two afterwards, the way you would after any unfamiliar workout.

  4. 04

You leave with a plan and a slot

Your next appointment is booked before you leave, and your trainer writes down where you got to so they can pick it up next week. Most people keep the same slot - which is the part that makes once a week actually happen.

Honest by design

Training - and honest about it

Training is our whole job

A Robla session is strength training, done properly - and anything medical belongs with your doctor. Your trainer will always point you the right way; that honesty is part of the standard.

Your health stays in professional hands

If you are being looked after for anything, bring it to the health conversation - your trainer builds your training around the full picture, together with the professionals who know you.
